Hmmm

My reaction to the news of Dirty Pretty Things splitting up?

(in case you care)

"Damn it, Carlito just got fine again, and NOW they break up? CRAP!"

'Tis a sad day.

In an exclusive statement to NME.COM the four piece – Carl Barat, Didz Hammond, Gary Powell and Anthony Rossomando – announced the break-up of the band that formed in 2005 following the split of The Libertines.

Frontman Carl Barat explained that the members of the band would be pursuing new musical projects, but that these would not involve The Libertines.

I adore this picture

Why? Let's go left to right.
lower row-
1. Love little Tom The Enemy's trackie jacket. And that he can convey attitude in a picture.
2. Wee Kieren. Sigh. Flashing a peace sign. Double sigh.
3. Wee Kyle's grin. So cute.
4. Bizzle's hoodie. Love it. Also love that his hand is bigger than Wee Kyle's head. Curly mop top and all....
Top row-
5. Carrrrrrrrrrloooooos. Hello, darlink.
6. Holy cow, is Kele Bloc Party SMILING? He is. Nice!
7. Drew. Le sigh. Am a bit concerned about the clerical look he's rocking, however. Who am I kidding? He's still swoon-worthy.
So many of my favorites....

Love Music, Hate Racism

This is made of awesome......

LMHR “SCHOOLS CD” - ON THE COVER OF THE NME NEXT MONTH
NME - the LMHR issue. In shops: Wednesday 10th October 2007

The LMHR CD for schools, supported by the NUT, has drawn a fantastic response - with many top artists contributing exclusive tracks (see below). Even better, the NME have now come on board, meaning that the CD will be covermounted on their 13th October issue, and that nme.com will be hosting a LMHR minisite where a week after the mag comes out you can download all the tracks alongside information on fighting racism and fascism and on putting on your own LMHR event.

This special edition of the NME will feature a special LMHR-themed cover bringing together Lethal Bizzle, Babyshambles, Bloc Party, Dirty Pretty Things, The View and The Enemy, as well as feature articles about LMHR including a roundtable discussion with the artists on racism, the BNP and music. Schools, colleges and other organisations can order bulk copies of empty LMHR CD sleeves in which your own pick of the tracks can be burned to CD after you’ve downloaded them from the website. The empty sleeves will also act as a flyer for LMHR and will be distributed in schools across the country.

Here’s the 100% confirmed tracklisting, in alphabetical order, with one or two surprises still possible - it’s still tbc which will be on the NME cover CD and which will be exclusive download-only tracks:-

Hmmm, there seems to be a pattern

with today's posts. This picture made me laugh me arse off this AM.

The little Enemy boys? Are SO little. Look- even Didz is taller than they are, and he's very close to being the most vertically challenged Dirty Pretty Thing!

*cough, cough, Carlos*

Is this the first time on record

that Carlito and Gazza kept their shirts on during a gig?

Anthony's streak of truly horrid sunglasses continues.

Run, Fat Boy, Run

Looks hysterical AND has a new Dirty Pretty Things song on the soundtrack!

Good Lord- Stanley and Carlito are trying to kill us.....

Tuesday, July 24, 2007

Oh, MY

Kazza, you're right. That shirt IS a great moment in Thomas. But you neglected to mention appearances by Carlito, Stanley, My Beloved Noel and The Fratellis in this video. I may have to retreat to my fainting couch. Or bed, as it's a bit late. Whatevs....

Ahhh, I see

the little Klaxon boys have joined in on the Cim and Tarl lovefest.....

The Chavs- a supergroup consisting of members of Klaxons and The Libertines performed a short set tonight (June 19).

The band's first ever gig consisted of a five song set at London's exclusive Cuckoo Club venue.

The group of rotating members included Carl Barat and Gary Powell of The Libertines plus Jamie Reynolds and Steffan Halperin of Klaxons. Lead vocal duties were taken by Tim Burgess of The Charlatans while the group of augmented by Didz Hammond and Anthony Rossomando from Dirty Pretty Things.

Me Plus One

The Fratellis
Notoriously one of Britain's most rabble-rousing bands, the tipple-friendly Glaswegians' rollicking anthems should go down a storm at Glasters. If you fancy drowning your mates in lager or dancing with underwear on your head, this is the band to provide the soundtrack.*
Where to see them: Friday, Pyramid Stage, 7.45pm

Kasabian
Before they were famous, Britain's "people's band" read about Altamont and staged their own mini-festivals on a Leicestershire farm. Now they're living out their fantasies for real,** and with festival-slaying anthems like Empire and bosom buddies like Oasis, you never know who (or what) might join them onstage.
Where to see them: Friday, Pyramid Stage, 9.15pm

With the announcement of the official lineup for Glasto yesterday, Queen Bee, Kazza and I have been talking a LOT about said lineup.

With QB, we've been mourning her inability to obtain tickets, despite making it into the ticket lottery.

(and I'm not sure she knows
Dirty Pretty Things have been added to Saturday's bill. The same day as Babyshambles. Shhhhhh.....)

With Kaz, we've been speculating on potential backstage activities of the Friday bands. Because that's what we do.

I'm sure that all bands will go home early, for church (or synagogue).

Because, it's not like-

-
Fratellis videos frequently feature half-dressed Vargas-type girls

-
Kasabian- well, I'm sure the Lads from Leicester would never do anything naughty, despite Serge's resemblance to the Prince Of Darkness

-
Amy Winehouse likes a drink or ten

-
Young Alex Turner has ever dropped his trousers (while massively drunk) and urinated in front of Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. Allegedly.

-
Wee The View Lads have ever-

  • drank 2 grand worth of booze (all of them) & knocked people over whilst doing running handstands (Kyle)
  • been banned from all Travelodge hotels after leaving the bathtub on while at the pub (Kieren)
  • had a makeup artist cover up their zits and hickies before opening for Big Brother at the Prince's Trust concert series (all of them)

So, I'm not thinking much mischief will be made backstage.
*"If you fancy drowning your mates in lager or dancing with underwear on your head, this is the band to provide the soundtrack."
If I knew nothing else about the Fratellis, this sentence would make me buy their album.
**"Now they're living out their fantasies for real..."
Kasabian. Fantasies. Bet Thomas's involve Star Wars.

*falls over dead*

DIRTY PRETTY THINGS

DIRTY PRETTY THINGS, originally uploaded by James Looker.

I am completely incapable of speech. This is Teh Hot. Sweet, sweet Carlito. This is rock and roll wasted youth, my friends. The modern equivalent of Lord Byron. But not posh. God. GOD. Carlos is fine.

Update- This is why I shouldn't look for Flickr pictures of my favorite rock and rollers after a few festive glasses of Chardonnay. Excuse the hyperbole.

New obsessions, late nite edition

So as previously mentioned, The Bees have turned me into a Dirty Pretty Things fan. Especially Anthony "Stanley" Rossamondo. And, obviously, Carl "Carlos" Barat. The appeal of the former cannot be more clearly stated than in this post of Odd Bee's. Isn't he darling?

And let me give a "Laurel and Hardy handshake" to the boy-love thing. Mmmm.....

Why we love Stanley so....

This is why we started to love Stanley immediately after the concert where we had full intentions to just worship Mr. Barat. (The first photo where Miss Odd Bee said hmmm, I'm glad I stood on the right side of the stage!)

1. With those curls, he totally fits into our whole Dogs In Space era Michael Hutchence thing.

2. Those curls.

3. He and Carlos love each other and we love Boy Love.

4. Kate was after him and he did hang with her one night and then later admitted he had spent a little too long in her company. HA HA

5. Those curls.

6. He's a Connecticut Yankee and part of the Boston scene (where I lived for five years) so he's our boy.

7. Want a sandwich?

This concludes our ode to Anthony "Stanley" Rossomando.

As you were.

Dirty Pretty Things - Bang Bang You're Dead

The Bees have made a believer of me. Thanks, ladies. Like I need another band to be obsessed with. Oh well, there's always room for more.....
