Silly season not so much stepped up a gear as clamped on another afterburner today (August 6).Cripes! The tabs are reporting the hot, hot news that new Los Angeles resident David Beckham may be performing alongside Robbie
Williams - as one half of a very trendy gay couple indeed. Apparently the makers of 'Desperate Housewives' want Goldenballs and the ex-Take That man to bunk up for an episode of their show, and are confident Beckham's up to the challenge.

As much as I love Beckham- fwaaah, David, and as much as I adore the Fratellis-fwaaah Jon, Baz and Mince, this is too cool:

The Fratellis have turned down a chance to record the official song for David Beckham's first game as an LA Galaxy player.The Scots, who were asked to re-record The Beatles' 'Hello Goodbye' for the July football match, reportedly said, "No fucking way," according to Dotmusic."

We've turned down a huge list of ridiculous things like that," said frontman Jon Fratelli. "We're not a bunch of travelling salesmen. If we don't get successful on our own terms then we won't do it at all."He added: "We were like, 'No fucking way.' It would have got us noticed, of course, but we'd have lost our self-respect."

Until now "Brand Beckham" has not been as strong in the US as in the rest of the world, but all that appears to be changing since the iconic athlete signed to promote Wheaties. By appearing on packaging for the product, which dubs itself "the breakfast of champions", Becks follows in the footsteps of one of his greatest sporting idols, Michael Jordan.

David Beckham is coming to America.

The 31-year-old English midfielder, weary of the politics and the lack of playing time in Spain with Real Madrid, today agreed to a five-year deal with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer and will join the team when his contract with Real expires on June 30. According to reports in the British news media, the deal includes salary and commercial opportunities worth $250 million.



You know what this means?

1. Many lovely pictures of David in American sports magazines. Hopefully in shorts. Or in a suit. Or shirtless.

2. Many lovely pictures of Posh's batshit crazy self in batshit crazy outfits in American gossip rags. Hopefully the outfits will contain some of the following elements: feathers, ruffles, weird pockets, inappropriate cleavage, or hats.
