Well, she looks

better than I expected...

The Winehouse at V last weekend.

She looks cute and happy. Hopefully due to actual emotions, not just those induced-by-chemicals...

Oh for God's Sake, Amy

Honey. This is NOT GOOD.

The troubled singer's set ended in controversy when she appeared to assault a member of the audience.

And are those cocktail umbrellas in your hair?

They are.

Oh dear.

Update-

She allegedly punched an audience member and got hauled off by security. DURING 'REHAB.' Amy, Amy, Amy...

This is actually

a cute picture of both of them... but remember, y'all. Crack is whack.

Random

Today at work, when we were in the weeds of funeral stuff, the Wee The View lads cover of 'I've Just Seen A Face' came on the stereo. We all started to sing along. Yes, I'm influential (*rolls eyes*) to the point that obscure Beatles b-sides become sing-a-longs at Iowa's Coolest Flower Shop.

Also, last week we had the revelation that my very posh co-worker, Denise, had all her family down for dinner, and started singing
'Rehab' under her breath. Obviously, her kids were incredulous that their mom was familiar with The Winehouse's oeuvre. She gleefully reported to me, "I told them that we've been listening to that for over a year now."

I'm making a difference, I suppose.

Let me get this straight

a- the fact that Amy's personal life is a trainwreck of epic proportions completely negates any artistic achivements she may make.
b- it was acceptable for Ms. Cole to take drugs on the sly, whereas Ms. Winehouse's (albeit somewhat unintentional) openness about her substance use makes her bad, bad, bad.

Hmmmm..... methinks someone is trying to jumpstart their career by kicking someone when they're down. Shut the fuck up, Natalie. Go sing another duet with your dad. That worked out well for you last time.

Singer Natalie Cole has slammed the decision to award Amy Winehouse with five Grammy Awards, claiming that it is rewarding her bad behaviour. Cole, a Grammy Award winner herself who admitted to using the drugs LSD, heroin and cocaine in her 2000 autobiography, said that Winehouse did not deserve the honours.“I don't think she should have won,” Cole, the daughter of legendary singer Nat King Cole, told People magazine. “It sends a bad message to young people trying to get into this business, trying to do it right and keep themselves together.

I think girlfriend may have been a bit shocked

I just want to give her a hug. And a sandwich. Keep getting healthy, honey!

Amy Winehouse won the Grammy for Song Of The Year for 'Rehab' at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles tonight (February 10).

Amy, Amy, Amy

In one of her comedy specials, Kathy Griffin did a routine at a women's prison. She asked the inmates that were in the clink because of a man to raise their hands. Nearly all the women did.

Amy Winehouse was arrested in London today (December 18).The singer is currently being held at Shoreditch Police Station in Hackney in connection with the bribery plot for which her husband is currently in prison. Blake Fielder-Civil has been in prison since last month after being arrested for trying to pay James King to withdraw a statement he made to police. King is a victim in an alleged assault case against Fielder-Civil. Police in London confirmed that a 24 year-old woman was arrested by appointment and that the arrest was “in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice”.

And Mitch? Maybe if you spent more time with your daughter, and less time talking to the tabloids, your girl wouldn't be in so much fucking trouble.... Just a thought.

Paris Fashion Week

Per The Guardian, no obvious trends emerged from Paris Fashion Week. However, THANK GOD, the chunky heel is still chic. (I cannot walk in stilettos for love nor money).

And while a stiletto heel is a half-hidden menace, a stolid heel - this season's choice - is an open threat. (Fuck-you shoes, rather than fuck me shoes, if you will.)

So here's The Winehouse's "ode" to the former.

A comment

I truly feel that the Fashion Rocks writers missed the boat on one bit.

They had a feature on Nas and Kelis, and one on The Winehouse, yet never mentioned that Amy's song, 'Me and Mr. Jones,' is about her boyfriend failing to obtain tickets to a Nas concert.

Sadly, the best possible response is-

"What kind of fuckery is this?"

If this is true,

hooooolllleeee crap! GO AMY! Wonder if she'll be rockin' the beehive?

If there were any doubts about Amy Winehouse being a trans-Atlantic sensation - there ain't now. The jazz babe has been afforded the ultimate accolade - the front cover of American Vogue - on the orders of ubercool editor Anna Wintour.

Ice queen Anna (pictured below) insisted on the singer after falling in love with her award-winning album Back To Black. Our Amy was then chosen to front the style bible's September issue, traditionally the highest-selling of the year.

A mag insider tells us: "An order from Anna Wintour is like a royal command and the order was 'get me Amy'. "Anna loved Amy's album so much that she just had to have her. But at the end of the day, it's not just about the music, it's about her rawness, her kooky style and her outspokenness. "She's very much a one-off - but incredibly talented with it."

The shoot by world-renowned photographer Bruce Weber was done in Miami where Amy and hubby Blake Fielder-Civil got married. Our insider continues:
"Wintour was instantly delighted with the outcome and thought Amy oozed cool."

North By Northwest

Tomorrow the Arctic Monkeys (featuring The Coral, The Winehouse, a Japanese Beatles tribute band and Supergrass)kick off their 2-night stand of ginormous shows at Old Trafford, continuing the grand tradition of Spike Island and Knebworth.
So as the NME says, "No pressure, then."

I'd like to state for the record, that I am completely unable to distinguish which I find more adorable-

a. that the Sheffie boys wanted a "bouncy castle" at the gig

or

b. that they call giant inflatables "bouncy castles."

I hope Helders busts out his Spidey costume again. Love that kid.

And hopefully, someone calls Amo off Al. Darling, you're married to the U.K.'s Federline. You shouldn't want to 'Do The Bad Thing' with anyone but him. Back off the Mistah Turner! Stop looking at him like he's a Rickstasy

Nicely done!

Way to go, Winehouse! And Keith did my favorite Keef song, 'Slipping Away.' Wonderful, just wonderful.

For the first time in 31 years, The Stones are back at a UK festival. And boy, do they pull out all the stops. Kicking off with fireworks (take that Muse!) it's a big stage show, the works, and in their 15-song set they wow us with the big hits (opener 'Start Me Up', 'Satisfaction', 'Brown Sugar'), a few more obscure (if they can ever be obscure, It's THE STONES) back catalogue numbers ('You Get Me Rocking', 'Rough Justice') - and a couple of special guests.

As we revealed on our blog earlier, the young 'uns got involved. Paolo Nutini came on to duet nobly on a cover of Robert Johnson's 'Love In Vain', while Amy Winehouse got her on her knees to play her part in a simmeringly sexy cover of The Temptations' 'Ain't Too Proud To Beg'.

As is custom at their live dates now, they went out to a tiny stage in the crowd and belted out a few classics, including disco classic 'Miss You' and a euphoric 'Honky Tonk Women'.

Waaaheeeyyyy! What's all this?

The Winehouse might be making an appearance at The Stones set tomorrow at the Isle of Wight Festival. ONSTAGE.

From the NME news section-

She added that despite strong rumours she will perform with The Rolling Stones when they headline the festival tomorrow (June 10), nothing has been confirmed yet."Oh, I don't think it's true, but I hope," she explained. "That kind of thing would be amazing. I am looking forward to seeing them tomorrow. It's going to be the nuts!"

From the NME festival blog-

Yes, not only has Amy Winehouse turned up, but it seems she might be sticking around for an encore. A source told us that her people are desperately trying to find Amy a hotel room on the island for tonight. So where could she possibly fit on tomorrow's packed bill? Over to you Mr Jagger...

From The Sun-

In an interview with Virgin Radio Amy revealed she'd be playing a famous Stones song at the festival - but didn't perform a cover during her Saturday afternoon set.
Amy also booked a hotel to stay over on Saturday after originally planning to return home. A festival source told Bizarre: "Nothing is confirmed but the evidence suggests the biggest collaboration of Amy's short career."

We'll have to wait and see. Dammit. I hate being patient. Amo's not going to be able to rock the Louboutins like she usually does. She'd be a foot taller than Mick

One of my favorite cover versions, ever

Arctic Monkeys version of 'You Know I'm No Good,' written and originally performed by The Winehouse.

It's a filthy song, and somehow, Young Master Turner makes it sound even dirtier..... Bless.

But Jesus, Helders, what the hell is on your face? Have you been hanging around with My Thomas?

Me Plus One

The Fratellis
Notoriously one of Britain's most rabble-rousing bands, the tipple-friendly Glaswegians' rollicking anthems should go down a storm at Glasters. If you fancy drowning your mates in lager or dancing with underwear on your head, this is the band to provide the soundtrack.*
Where to see them: Friday, Pyramid Stage, 7.45pm

Kasabian
Before they were famous, Britain's "people's band" read about Altamont and staged their own mini-festivals on a Leicestershire farm. Now they're living out their fantasies for real,** and with festival-slaying anthems like Empire and bosom buddies like Oasis, you never know who (or what) might join them onstage.
Where to see them: Friday, Pyramid Stage, 9.15pm

With the announcement of the official lineup for Glasto yesterday, Queen Bee, Kazza and I have been talking a LOT about said lineup.

With QB, we've been mourning her inability to obtain tickets, despite making it into the ticket lottery.

(and I'm not sure she knows
Dirty Pretty Things have been added to Saturday's bill. The same day as Babyshambles. Shhhhhh.....)

With Kaz, we've been speculating on potential backstage activities of the Friday bands. Because that's what we do.

I'm sure that all bands will go home early, for church (or synagogue).

Because, it's not like-

-
Fratellis videos frequently feature half-dressed Vargas-type girls

-
Kasabian- well, I'm sure the Lads from Leicester would never do anything naughty, despite Serge's resemblance to the Prince Of Darkness

-
Amy Winehouse likes a drink or ten

-
Young Alex Turner has ever dropped his trousers (while massively drunk) and urinated in front of Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz. Allegedly.

-
Wee The View Lads have ever-

  • drank 2 grand worth of booze (all of them) & knocked people over whilst doing running handstands (Kyle)
  • been banned from all Travelodge hotels after leaving the bathtub on while at the pub (Kieren)
  • had a makeup artist cover up their zits and hickies before opening for Big Brother at the Prince's Trust concert series (all of them)

So, I'm not thinking much mischief will be made backstage.
*"If you fancy drowning your mates in lager or dancing with underwear on your head, this is the band to provide the soundtrack."
If I knew nothing else about the Fratellis, this sentence would make me buy their album.
**"Now they're living out their fantasies for real..."
Kasabian. Fantasies. Bet Thomas's involve Star Wars.

*falls over dead*

AMY!

Girlfriend is on the cover of the Rolling Stone and Spin!
Get down with your bad self, Miz Amy Jade Winehouse!

Though I do have a small bone to pick-
why must media types refer to all female singers as "divas?"

While I adore Amy, Amy, Amy, the girl is 23, which is not nearly old enough to qualify for diva status. In my eyes, anyway.

35-36, then we're talking!

Congrats, Mr. & Mrs. Fielder-Civil!

lYou crazy kids! Best of luck to you!

As Us Weekly reported earlier today, Amy Winehouse wed fiance Blake Fielder-Civil in Miami, Florida this morning — just hours before taking part in a photoshoot for an upcoming issue of Rolling Stone. According to a source, the couple had actually planned to get hitched tomorrow, but when they dropped by City Hall today to get their marriage license, they decided to do it on the spot. “I don’t want to say it was on a whim, because that makes it sound whimsical,” said the groom, who was allegedly very giddy after the morning’s nuptials.

Question

I've recently obtained a version of 'You Know I'm No Good,' orginally written and recorded by The Winehouse, covered by Arctic Monkeys. They sing the cover as is- no switching of the perspective from female to male.

My question is this: why does the song sound SO much more filthy when sung by Young Alex Turner?

Is it the perspective? I'm not exactly sure.....

By the way, The Winehouse is on Leno tonight, and Arctics are on Jimmy Kimmel Friday. Yay Coachella!
