GUITAR HERO: After thrusting Mikhail Gorbachev into the fashion spotlight with its award-winning "core values" campaign, it looks like Louis Vuitton has gone casting in the world of rock 'n' roll for its next personality. Rumor has it Keith Richards, the legendary guitarist and Rolling Stone, recently posed for Vuitton spots during a shoot in New York.

The smart money is on
Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis says he has booked "a black American headliner" in an attempt to attract a younger audience to this year's festival. The annual music event's line-up is traditionally kept under wraps until the gates open, so fans won't find out who the artist is until June.
...
Michael Eavis has hinted his headliner hails from New York, which would make Jay-Z a frontrunner.

Bradenton, FL — Is Florida “Rudy Country?” He better hope so since he is staking his entire candidacy on the Sunshine State. And, given the crowd Giuliani drew Saturday at a central Florida town hall meeting, maybe the campaign’s new Sunshine State motto is accurate. A standing room-only crowd of nearly 800 residents gathered today in Bradenton to hear the former NYC mayor talk taxes and terrorism.

More fleurs
his bouquet with Freesia, spray Liatris, "Cool Water" roses and pips from Agapanthus that I wired in. I added sparkly beads in from Midwest of Cannon Falls, and wrapped the stems with ribbon from May Arts (my absolute fav ribbon enabler, er, wholesaler) Fleurs

and this is the absolutely gorg bouquet that Jen did for the bride- all Cymbidum and Dendrobium orchids, done in a bouquet holder.
We ran into a problem when she went to spray it with floral lock (to keep the flowers in the holder like they should be- kind of like superglue for bouquets)- we had at some point lost the straw for the adhesive. Thankfully, my dad kindly went and found a WD-40 straw for J, which worked like a charm.....
The bouquet was "hit" with silver spray glitter as well- really made the flowers pop at the 5PM candlelight ceremony.

Queen Bitch
Envy isn't what creates a classic bitch - who never feels threatened, and always feels superior - so that rules out the Kate-haters and Nigella-nigglers. It also keeps out your classic you're-not-going-out dressed-like-that old nag - see Vivienne Westwood and Fay Weldon blaming the Spice Girls for everything from the Black Death to global warming - because when the nipples go south the nose invariably heads north. Jade Jagger's "Slag" necklace, sent to Kate Moss after the alleged thieving of then-beau Dan Macmillan, was a low blow but hardly the act of a true bitch - just some well-connected nobody, peeved at losing her man to the Best of Breed. And there's a bitchy line, if you please.

As it's supposed to get to -10 tonight, I'd much rather be here right now.
A few things
As a resident of the Tall Corn State, I'd like to clear up a few misconceptions I've seen floating about on the Internet.
1. Iowa? Not flat. Most of the north part of the state was sculpted by glaciers, and we have the Loess Hills in western Iowa. NOT FLAT. That would be Nebraska.
2. Quit bemoaning the fact that a bunch of "hicks" and "farmers" are going to make an important (or not, as you may believe) decision for the country. You know, we actually do have cities here in flyover country. They have electricity. And indoor plumbing. They may wear shoes there. GOLLLEEE!
It also pisses me off that 'farmer' seems to be a code word for "uneducated rube." You know what you have to be good at to farm? Chemistry. (farm chemicals) Also, it smacks of classist bullshit to me, so knock it the fuck off.
3. Do you really think that we enjoy having (am not exaggerating) 25 MESSAGES FROM POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS ON THE ANSWERING MACHINE when we get home from work? At 2PM? Including one from the Mike Huckabee campaign (gag) and one that started with "I'm Newt Gingrich, and...." DELETE.
Now that rant is out of the way, I'm going to my first caucus tomorrow night, and am quite excited about it. Who am I supporting? Mr. John Edwards. In case you care.

Kasabian were joined onstage by pal Noel Gallagher as they rang in the New Year in the early hours of this morning (January 1) with a special Hogmanay show in Scotland. The band rounded off 2007 with a spectacular performance which saw fireworks blasted off at the climax of their hour-long set in Edinburgh Gardens. And the Oasis main-man joined them for the last three songs, performing on 'Club Foot', 'Stuntman' and 'LSF'.

Now this is interesting
Indie-rock purists might be shocked by Franz’s likely choice of producer: They’ve recorded tracks with Brian Higgins, a British pop hitmaker who’s previously worked with Kylie Minogue, Cher and the girl group Girls Aloud. “It appeals to my contrary side,” says Kapranos. “And I don’t like the distance between bands and pop music there is now. Dr. Dre or Timbaland or the Neptunes are making the songs you’ve never heard before, not the indie kids strumming their fucking guitars.”**

The probe by Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa, the ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, has brought new scrutiny to the underlying belief that brings in millions of dollars and fills churches from Atlanta to Los Angeles — the "Gospel of Prosperity," or the notion that God wants to bless the faithful with earthly riches. All six ministries under investigation preach the prosperity gospel to varying degrees.

Holding hands with Ms Bruni, the French president waved at onlookers as they arrived at their luxury hotel.
But security is tight with plainclothes guards deployed in the town and two journalists were briefly detained on Monday night after filming the hotel. Mr Sarkozy, 52, divorced his wife of 11 years, Cecilia, in October. He was first pictured in the French media with Ms Bruni, 39, in mid December during a visit to Disneyland Paris. The former model, who has been previously linked to men including Mick Jagger, Donald Trump and Eric Clapton, began a career as a singer after quitting the world of fashion.

The award-winning choreographer Michael Kidd, known for his work on Broadway musicals, has died at his home in Los Angeles, aged 92.
On Broadway Mr Kidd won five Tony Awards and he also received an honorary Academy Award for his film work.
His nephew, Robert Greenwald, told The New York Times that Mr Kidd died on Sunday night of cancer.
His best-known film work was on Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, a 1954 musical about the American frontier.
He created movements for ballet dancers who were not supposed to appear balletic, including a famous barn-raising sequence. One of my favorite musicals-

Bah freaking humbug
-Woman comes into store last week and orders a very complicated centerpiece to be picked up this AM. You don't get complicated for 30 bucks, which is what she wanted it for.
Centerpieces are very time consuming, so the labor eats up a lot of value that could be applied to the flowers. You pay 50 bucks, now then you can be picky.
-Woman is slightly snooty. 30 bucks and snooty. Get down with your bad self.
-This AM, woman walks in and wants her centerpiece. Which isn't done. Or even started. (it's been slightly wild this week).
-Mom tells her we will deliver her masterpiece for free to a neighboring town.
-Woman is mollified, tells Mom that someone will be home all day.
-Fast forward a few hours. I'm driving around, trying to find the fucking house for delivery in London-esque fog.
-Okay, and listening to Babyshambles and Wee The View Lads at top volume.
-Alright, and texting Kaz. But for serious, I was actually paying attention to where I was going.
- I find the house. Knock on the door, carrying the most beautiful 30-dollar centerpiece EVER CREATED.
-No one is fucking home.
-Try to keep extremely friendly Lab from knocking me to the ice-covered ground.
-Really wish I didn't have on slippery, but cute shoes.
-Pound on the door. Can hear TV inside.
-Ring doorbell again. It's really fucking cold, and I have another 3 places to get to, and it's starting to get really farcking foggy.
-Check door. Is open. Leave centerpiece (in a protective pink bag- keeps flowers from dying) on stairs.
-Leave house.
-Get back to shop an hour later.
-Snooty woman calls and gives me the 5th (or whatever is the worst) degree about why her centerpiece hasn't been delivered. I'm like, "Au contraire. I did deliver it." She then asks me all sorts of details about the house I delivered it to, and I'm thinking, "Bitch, please! Do you know how many deliveries I did this afternoon?" (I turn into Snoop when confronted with stupid people)
-She asks her father if he's seen anything in a pink bag. He had. AND HE THREW IT AWAY. Now, you have to be a particular kind of idiot to throw something like that away. It was obviously, obviously flowers. The card was on the outside. It smelled good.
-Woman wanted us to deliver another one tonight. For free. Got snooty with Mom when she said that wasn't our responsibility. Mom refused to budge. Hanging up may have occurred.
-May I point out that on the way home an hour later, I drove 35 MPH because the fog was so bad. So I was supposed to risk my life for thirty fucking bucks because her father is a blooming moron. Yeah, that's about right.
I hate people sometimes. Merry Effing Christmas.

or....
B- THE Chief Resident of General Surgery AT MAYO CLINIC that took a picture of it while inserting a catheter
PHOENIX -- A surgeon faces a disciplinary hearing for snapping a photo of a patient's tattooed genitals during an operation and showing the photo around to other doctors.
Mayo Clinic Hospital administrators said Dr. Adam Hansen, chief resident of general surgery, admitted taking the photo with his cell phone on Dec. 11. The tattoo on strip club owner Sean Dubowik's penis reads: "Hot Rod." (my emphasis)
Dubowik, who had undergone a gallbladder operation, said he learned of the photo Monday when the Mayo Clinic called.
This part slayed me.
Dubowik said he got the tattoo on a bet and that "it was the most horrible thing I ever went through in my life."
You don't say. Who would ever think that getting a tattoo ON YOUR PENIS would hurt? I would have NEVER guessed that.
Knees Up
Chas & Dave were never, and are not, cool. They haven't been given the critical rehabilitation of, say, Ian Dury or Madness. And yet, in the age of The X Factor and punk foursomes who weren't even born in 1977, Chas & Dave sell out live dates across the UK. Pete Doherty, a long-time admirer, says he was inspired to pick up a guitar thanks to their music – and Doherty supported them at a rowdy Saturday night gig in Chatham, Kent, waving a flag as he accompanied Chas on vocals for "Ain't No Pleasing You", an insanely catchy ballad of wounded male pride, which reached No 2 in 1982.
This year, they had three slots at Glastonbury, their second appearance at the event. Their Christmas Beano has become a festive tradition, not only for Libertines fans but also for self-proclaimed "geezers" who identify with the band's working-class values and find authenticity in their trad music and un-Americanised accents.
And awwww, it's Fanboy Pete! I love Fanboy Pete! Almost as much as I love Pete's tendency to take his cat everywhere with him. And he actually sounds REALLY good here.

Amy Winehouse was arrested in London today (December 18).The singer is currently being held at Shoreditch Police Station in Hackney in connection with the bribery plot for which her husband is currently in prison. Blake Fielder-Civil has been in prison since last month after being arrested for trying to pay James King to withdraw a statement he made to police. King is a victim in an alleged assault case against Fielder-Civil. Police in London confirmed that a 24 year-old woman was arrested by appointment and that the arrest was “in connection with an investigation into perverting the course of justice”.
And Mitch? Maybe if you spent more time with your daughter, and less time talking to the tabloids, your girl wouldn't be in so much fucking trouble.... Just a thought.

Oh HELL YES (part 2)
Girl Power was back with a bang in the UK this weekend as Posh, Sporty, Baby, Scary and Ginger spiced up the lives of fans in London - and performed together in the UK for the first time in almost a decade.A star-studded audience, including celeb chef Gordon Ramsay, Peaches Geldof, singer Will Young and Roberto Cavalli - who designed the girls' costumes for the tour - saw Geri Halliwell wow the 20,000-strong crowd in a replica of the iconic Union flag dress she donned for the 1997 Brit Awards.
And Emma Bunton, who suffered a sprained ankle during the fivesome's Las Vegas gig and has been receiving treatment from David Beckham's doctor, soldiered on wearing an ankle support for the show - though she had to pull out of some of the more demanding dance routines.
The London gig has been dubbed the girls' raunchiest to date. However, earlier on in the week it was strictly a family affair for the Beckham family, as Victoria was joined by her footie-ace husband and three sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz for a festive spin on the ice-rink at Hyde Park.
Oh HELL yes!

Nuh uh
Boyz 'N the Hood's John Singleton has reportedly signed on to direct the long-awaited big screen version of cheesy 80s TV show The A-Team. Latino Review says the film-maker, whose portfolio in recent years has included the likes of 2 Fast 2 Furious and the remake of Shaft, has agreed to shoot a new version of the story of Colonel Hannibal Smith and his merry band of Vietnam vets.
Series creator Stephen J Cannell has been trying to get an A-Team feature off the ground for a number of years. The plan is to update the series to the modern day, with Smith's team now comprising veterans of the Iraq war. There would also be a more serious tone than the TV show, and - in a landmark move - characters who are shot at in the new version may actually expire.
*at one point, I recall reading that The Clooney had read for the role of Hannibal, and have since become ever so slightly fixated this. Just a little bit.

I'm going to quietly hyperventilate over in the corner
Led Zeppelin played a storming show at their first UK in 19 years at the 02 Arena in London tonight (December 10).The long-awaited performance was the headline slot at a tribute show for Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, who died earlier this year and was instrumental in building the band's career in the 1970s. Frontman Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones were joined by Jason Bonham on drums - son of John, the band's original drummer who died in 1980 signalling the end of the original band's 12-year career.
There had been brief reformations before - including Live Aid in 1985 - but tonight was the first full set the group had played since headlining Knebworth in 1979.
An estimated nine million people applied for the 18,000 tickets, and despite the quiet sound there was mass hysteria as the band performed their classics before a crowd including Paul McCartney, Oasis' Noel and Liam Gallagher, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Lulu, Arctic Monkeys, Kate Moss and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.
Led Zeppelin played:
'Good Times Bad Times'
'Ramble On''Black Dog'
'In My Time Of Dying'
'For Your Life'

Saint Dolly visits across the pond
Nine To Five star Dolly Parton is used to performing in some of the world's biggest and best known venues. Yesterday, though, the globally famous blonde took her unique style to the unlikely setting of the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham - in a bid to improve the literacy of British children.
Dolly's Imagination Library scheme - which has been hugely successful in the US - is now being launched in the South Yorkshire town, after a local councillor brought the idea back following a visit to the singer's home state of Tennessee. Under the new initiative every child under the age of five will be sent a free book to read every month.

AmEx Agyness wins "model of the year" at the Brit Fashion Awards. Love her. Key creatives in the fashion world gathered to honour the industry's brightest stars this week at the annual British fashion Awards. And there was, of course, only one choice for model of the year – Agyness Deyn, who has been dubbed the new Kate Moss. The leggy blonde, who used to work in a chip shop, made her entrance in a black Giles number with trailing hemline.
Twenty-four-year-old Agyness, who is the face of Burberry, took to the stage to collect her award from designer Roland Mouret holding her mobile phone to her ear. "It's my mum on the phone," she told the crowd, which included Lily Allen and Kelly Osbourne.
Christmas #1
I must confess, I am completely wild to hear the entry from 1980, 'There's No One Quite Like Grandma.' Martin Hannett allegedly once snorted some illicit substance off its gold record. And I don't know what Stereogum is smoking, dissing the entries since 1999. 'Sound Of The Underground' is an AMAZING single.
